This restaurant has stood the test of time.  The first time I went, we weren't aware of the cash only policy and didn't have quite enough to pay.  At the time, the cashpoint down the street was broken, so the owner kindly said we could pay the next time we came.  Of course there was no guarantee that we ever would come back.  However, the food was so delicious, we were eager to repay the favor.

I've been back numerous times since, including this week, and it just keeps getting better.  First of all, the food is amazing, grilled right in the same room you're sitting in, and the non-meat ingredients are very fresh as well.  The restaurant is nearly always buzzing, with quite a positive neighborhood vibe, but not "locals-only," or exclusive in any way.

Anytime I have this type of food, my test is the chicken skewers. If they can do that well, then they've got my interest.  Grilling white meat is difficult, and the results are usually too dry.  I have to say this is the best 'pilic sis' I've ever had. I think the secret must be in their marinade. The meat is always delicious and juicy, truly mouthwatering.

I know there are other well-recommended Ocakbasi restaurants in and around Stoke Newington, but this one on Green Lanes is my favorite!

Absolutely glad we came here to eat. Don't let the huge take away menu fool you. Quality was great. Chicken was juicy and lamb wasn't too gamey. Taste was good and was cooked right there on the grill where you can see it.  Portions were good and the side salad that comes with the main was nice and fresh.

Price, can't complain at all! Meat mains mostly under £10...can't find much of that around town.

Dips= delicious. The bread that comes with the dips are thicker styled bread, but it's suuper fluffy and soft.

    BYOB, which is awesome.

Cash only. Saw many people having to go run to the nearest ATM.

Really nice staff. Will be back again.

One of my only ever five star reviews on Yelp...

    Here is why:

    - Amazing quality of food. The smoked meats are some of the best that I have tried in London. Especially recommended are the cop sis and the lamb chops. Incredible.

    - Prices. Such good value - around £6.50 or £7 for a main course.

    - You can bring your own booze - although I can't see a clear policy on this, they also sell beers

    - Relaxed ambience, similar to a cafe, and with a lot of local Turkish customers

    - Friendly owner, who can remember his clients

    - The take-away options are also stellar. You can order something, they will have it ready in ten minutes and you hand over around £5 for the priviledge

Overall - I can only highly recommend this place. Quality of food, price and ambience all combine to give this five stars. Worth the trek if you are used to going to places like Mangal in Dalston. In my view - as good and if not better - but cheaper.

    Enjoy.

As the nights draw in and I start unpacking winter clothes, my thoughts turn to Beyti. I've tried quite a few of the Turkish restaurants in Dalston and Stokey, but this one, along with 19 Numara Bos Cirrik (on Stoke Newington Road), represents the best in the area.
To be honest, I'm pleased that it's off the much publicised Dalston track- but you'll still need to wait for a table most evenings. But wait you most definitely should. The food is amazing (I recommend the pirzola), and the service is warm, if a little brisk (there only every seems to be one guy taking orders). We're ardent fans of this little place and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a superb Turkish meal.
